PGRC Notes on Training

Programs

In addition to the fact that we're a friendly group of people at all levels of experience and interest and quite willing to share our experience, the club also conducts programs during the year.  Our less formal programs are the track nights and long runs.  More formal is the beginning runners program.

Beginning Runners

This program is aimed at people who can at least walk 30 minutes comfortably, every other day of the week, when they start.  We work on enjoying ourselves (not hard!), improving running form, and learning how to recognize incipient injuries and what to do about them.  Almost all running and walking is at a conversational level of effort.  The program is aimed towards (your choice of) a late August 5k race. The next edition of the program will start May 5, 2007.  But don't let that stop you from coming out earlier!  New people are always welcome; that's one of the reasons for the mentor notes!
