Prince George’s County Running Club (PGRC) – 5K and 10K Training Programs

(2009 information coming soon)

Start Date: September 20, 2008

PGRC is sponsoring a 5k and 10k Coed Runners training program.  Both programs are designed for members that are interested in increasing their distance, improving endurance and running efficiently through form improvement and drills.

The programs guide participants through a consistent training schedule that culminates with completing the Wright Stuff 5K race on December 6, 2008, and the Jingle All the Way – 10k on December 14, 2008.

Orientation

Registration and OrientationSaturday, September 20, 2008, 8 a.m., at Greenbelt Park

On September 20, 2008, Program participants will register for the program and learn more about the program requirements.   The orientation will last one hour.  All participants are expected to attend the orientation program.

First session – Saturday, September 27, 8 am – 9:30 a.m. at Bowie High School

It is suggested that participants arrive at the session at least 15 minutes before the 8 a.m. start time.  During this session, each participant will complete a one-mile, timed trial run.  The purpose of the timed trial is to help the coaches identify the proper pace group for each runner.  After the timed trial, each participant will be assigned into an initial pace group.  The first session will include 20-30 additional minutes of running, beyond the timed trial.
