On June 4, 2011, there will be a 15 minute Orientation on the Half Marathon program, after this we will do a 5 mile run on the Bowie Trail. After the run, each participant will be assigned into an initial pace group. The 5 mile run will help pace coaches make sure that you are in the correct pace group. It is suggested that participants arrive at the session at least 15 minutes before the 8 a.m. start time. Please come prepared to run and have a fuel belt.
Once you are assigned a pace group and pace group leader. The leader will keep in contact with you via email periodically to check your progress during the week. Pace Group Leaders will help motivate you through out the Half Marathon training program.
Scheduled runs will take place at Bowie H. S or University of Maryland, College Park Tuesday evenings and at Glendale Community Center, Greenbelt Park and Bowie, MD on Saturday mornings. We may also add a different location during the program, so that participants can experience different running terrain. You will be required to run an additional day during the week prior to Saturday morning runs.
